Just got back from watching Monsters vs Aliens

It was a really cute movie, quite funny. But there is one humongous glitch that made me confused near the end of the movie...

[It's a spoiler, so highlight below if you want to read]

You know the part where Susan managed to get to the other side of the locked door whilst the other three "monsters" got locked in the spaceship that's going to self-destruct in T-5 minutes? She looked around and saw these two hovercrafts and got the idea she previously used on cars (aka Susan rollerskates). So she slipped on the two hovercrafts on her feet like shoes and had a lot of fun flying around dodging robots and missiles.

Now, the problem is that when she did her cars-rollerskates stint, she was in her ginormous state, so it works. When she did her hovercraft-skates stint, she was back to normal human size.

There's only two reasons why this could be, and both of them don't make any sense. Why:

a) are the hovercrafts small enough to be on her feet? If anything, the alien clones who used the hovercrafts as normal hovercrafts are slightly bigger than her in her normal state. Or, why;

b) is she ginormous again, and then proceeds to shrink again as she confronted that alien boss?

Is it just a hugeass plothole in the script that Dreamworks can't be bothered to patch up? Like, they can't think of any other way for her to save her friends?

I don't usually pick on random plotholes in movies that I see, but this is really unmissable and I'm surprised they let it fly.
